V INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP: CITY AND CULTURE 2013
Coinciding with the initiative to declare the CATHEDRAL OF JAÉN a World Heritage Site, as an exemplary architectural reference of the religious renaissance in southern Spain, the College of Architects of Jaén, in collaboration with the School of Architecture of Madrid, the School of Architecture of Valencia and the GEOMETRIA Magazine, convened the “V INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP” with the central theme: “CITY AND CULTURE: Reflections on the Cathedral”, which was held in Jaén Cathedral itself (work of the architect Andrés de Valdevira in the 16th century).
Its main content was to analyse from the theory and practice of the action of the project (in all its different “scales”), the importance of the presence of Jaén Cathedral in the urban and territorial landscape of the city, finding in the architectural dimension its influence on the understanding, form and raison d’être of the city of Jaén.
The College of Architects of Jaén, tried to influence the debate on the importance of architecture and its professionals, discovering in this professional analysis of the Workshop the importance that architecture and its architects have contributed to the historical heritage of that magical and irreplaceable reality that is the “city”.
