GEOMETRÍA MAGAZINE COMPLETE EDITION
GEOMETRÍA Magazine was born in 1985 from its own Publishing House, formed by “ESTUDIO SEGUI” as a complementary cultural activity and in collaboration with a large group of professionals dedicated to the practice of Architecture and Urbanism, with the main objective of researching and disseminating the architectural and urban heritage of our cities and the ways of intervening in them during the first decades of the democratic transition in Spain. He has made his two collections, one of his own GEOMETRY Magazine published from 1985 to 2000 (currently in digital edition (www.geometriadigital.com), and his collection “MONOGRAPHIES” selecting lines of professional research as editorial continuity of this cultural initiative carried out from the Studio itself as a complementary activity to his professional production.
This is an editorial initiative, carried out from the free professional platform, with the aim of recovering the professional dialogue between the scales of Architecture and Urbanism, understanding their respective practices from the very urban structure that supports them and their reference to the global project of the city. This conjunction of aesthetic and practical values, which we could define as the Art of Building Cities, became in those years the centre of a new professional debate that tried to rebuild the discipline of architecture and urbanism as two indissoluble sides of the same coin.
GEOMETRY thus sought to incorporate into this debate and disciplinary research significant materials in the experience of intervening in our cities, trying to discover in professional practice the elements of urban and architectural culture itself. In this sense, it also organized the “INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE WORKSHOPS” (2009-2019) carried out in collaboration with different Colleges of Architects, national and international Schools of Architecture, and the special participation of the Superior Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain, as a complement to the debate and reflection generated by GEOMETRY Magazine.
With the present edition of the book “SELECCIÓN ARTÍCULOS” (SELECTION OF ARTICLES), we try not only to gather a compilation of some references of articles and essays published in the long editorial trajectory of the Journal, but also the totality of all its editions that are attached in digital support as it can suppose interesting material of analysis and investigation with respect to the professional production of those first decades of the 80’s and 90’s of the political transition in Spain.
