The refurbishment of the Gran Hotel Miramar in Malaga, belonging to the “Hoteles Santos” chain and whose works were carried out according to a project by “Estudio Seguí”, won the “Spain Luxury Hotel Awards” at an event held on 6 June 2018 at the Westin Palace in Madrid. It is a building of great historical importance for the city, which was inaugurated as a hotel in 1926 according to the original project of the architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan, and which after a long journey with different uses was acquired by the “Hoteles Santos” chain on the basis of a public tender called by the Junta de Andalucía in 2007.
The refurbishment of the Gran Hotel Miramar began in 2014, and the current facilities were inaugurated in December 2016. Its special architectural features and the quality of its refurbishment works for its return to “high-end” hotel use were the reasons for obtaining this recognition.
