The project proposes the creation of a public spa on the beaches of “Cortadura” in Cádiz. The main conditions of the project would be to avoid any kind of visual impact on this exceptional place on the city’s sea coast, and also to become a point of reference which, as a “gateway”, would become the public access to the beach.
This double condition or limitation made it necessary to situate the built-up areas of the Spa below the level of the access platform, taking advantage of the difference in level between the beach and the access road, thus making possible the visual transparency required from the access road itself and the non-interruption of views that the built-up areas could produce. On the other hand, the design of a thin sheet of white concrete that, like a wavy “canvas” moved by the air (like the large banners integrated into the ensemble), would provide the necessary landscape reference to delimit and mark the access to the beach that was sought.
