The main characteristic of this winning project, was to reinterpret its objective by promoting and qualifying it as a strategic “new centrality” both in its urban scale (Marbella) and territorial scale (Costa del Sol).
The proposal of the new Puerto de la Bajadilla in Marbella was the result of a National Competition called by the Andalusian Public Port Authority (APPA) of the Junta de Andalucía for the concession of the “La Bajadilla” Port in Marbella. The main feature of this winning project of the Contest was to reinterpret its objective by enhancing it and qualifying it as a strategic “new centrality” both in its urban (Marbella) and territorial scale (Costa del Sol). After a complicated initial administrative process, the concession was recovered with the help of Marbella Town Hall and Junta de Andalucía, which meant an important public commitment to carry out this Project of the “New Port-New Port” of Marbella That so much illusion and expectations had provoked in the city. Both the formalization of its port design and the distribution of commercial uses were aimed at supporting this idea of a new urban and territorial “centrality” for the future development of the city in the East, as well as “Puerto Banus” The West in the last century XX. Its main vocation will be to become the reference of the high quality tourism that the current national and international demands require for the City of Marbella and its Costa del Sol. The winning technical project was projected by Estudio Seguí and the engineers “Berenguer Ingenieros” And “Axel Logis”.
