OLYMPIC GAMES PAVILION
Location: Almería.

It was a National Competition in which the Sports Pavilion for the Mediterranean Olympic Games was requested, including an athletics track and the rest of the sports foreseen in its programme.
Its location on the interstitial grounds of an important road junction and the complexity of the physical conditions of the site required the design of an architectural container with a forceful volumetry and with a façade “skin” sufficiently capable of withstanding the visual and environmental aggressiveness of its surroundings.
In this way, a large box was designed so that it could be recognised from the surroundings delimited by the important adjacent road junction.
The façade is made up of large prefabricated concrete panels, with horizontal grooved reliefs, and topped with a continuous glass upper frieze which lightens the projected “box” and provides the natural lighting required by its large interior spaces.
