The latest news about the possibility of taking advantage of the European Covid funds to be able to opt for the financing of the Coastal Train project is a great opportunity to consolidate perhaps the most important strategic project capable of territorially structuring all the urban settlements of the Costa del Sol coastline, whose natural characteristics and the intense tourist development has substantially modified the model on which it is based. At the same time as tourist activity has been growing and evolving over time, the Costa del Sol has undergone a series of transformations which have led to numerous urban and road discontinuities as well as serious infrastructure deficits, mainly due to the lack of adaptation between urban growth and the implementation of the infrastructures and facilities which should have accompanied and supported this growth. In this sense, we make a broad technical reflection on the importance of the realisation of this railway corridor in the coastal section of the Costa del Sol – Malaga.
